Puzzle #14

As you can tell by the name on the hanger, this is Norton Field, which used to be near Broad and Yearling. They put a commemorative plaque at Holy Spirit in June of 1999, since this was central Ohio's first commercial airport.

This picture came from Del Rawlins, a pilot who lives in Alaska. You can see his web page at http://www.netpackrat.com/planes/norton.html

Del's grandmother gave him this picture, which was probably taken sometime during the second world war. Del says his great-grandparents operated Norton Field and might have trained navigators for the military during the war. His great-grandmother owned and operated a flight school at Norton Field back in the 40's.

The left of the picture shows a row of taxicabs operated by Del's great grandfather, and the row of planes on the right belonged to his great grandmother's flight school. Del doesn't know a whole heck of a lot about the airfield and its history. If you can give him any info, he'd love to hear from you. His E-mail is del@netpackratcom
