A funeral service
for John C. Bankes, age 54, of Etna, will be
held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 6,
2003 at the Hebron Church of the Nazarene,
115 West Canal Street, with Rev. William
Van Meter officiating. Burial will follow in
Kirkersville Cemetery,
where military honors will
be observed.
Mr. Bankes, a letter carrier with
Whitehall Post Office for 37 years, died September
3, 2003 at Grant Medical
Center. He was born October 26, 1948 in Columbus,
Oh. to the late Maynard and Nancy (Brown) Bankes.
Mr. Bankes was a veteran
of the U.S. Army. He attended Hebron Church of
the Nazarene and was a lifetime member of the
Eagles. He was a member of
the Teamsters Union and the Postal Union.
Surviving
are wife of 10 years, Angie Bankes; children
and their spouses, Michael
J. (Robin) Bankes of Columbus, Shawn (Theresa)
Bankes of Willard, Melissa (Michael) Workman
of Reynoldsburg, Laura (Shawn) Messer
of Etna, Christopher Nicholas Bankes of Etna;
grandchildren, Drew Edgar, Courtney Messer, Brandon
Workman, Joshua Bankes,
Allison Workman and Logan Bankes; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Roger and Rita Bankes of Stockport,
Rodney and Amy Bankes
of Crooksville, Eric and Bev Bankes of Malta;
several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in
death by a grandson Aaron Messer. Friends
may call from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, September 5 at
the Kirkersville Chapel of
