Preston Hale - Class
of 19781

Inducted January, 2006
Preston Hale is a decorated veteran
of the U.S. Army and Army Reserves and, among other recognitions and
awards, earned the Presidential Unit Citation and a
Good Conduct Medal.
Preston's career has included working as an
engineer in Harvey, La.,owning his own
construction business in Pensacola, Fla., and being
building inspector for first Dublin, Ohio and then New Albany, Ohio.
Preston has served on the board of directors for the
Central Ohio Code Officials Association, Central Ohio Building Officials
Association,
as treasurer of the Ohio Building Officials Association, and as president
of the Central Ohio Code Officials Association.
He was recognized in 1991 with the Employee of the Year
Award from Dublin, Ohio, along with the Community Service Award for
assisting families
left behind during Desert Storm. He was earned the award again in 1993
for the assistance he provided to Missouri flood victims that year.
He also later was recognized for that work by the city of Dublin with
a Mayoral
Proclamation, and with the Service to Mankind Award from the Downtown
Sertoma Club of Columbus.
In 1994, he was given the key to the city of Genevieve,
Mo., for his aid to flood victims there.
Preston is well-known for his role
as Santa Claus at various civic events, in exchange for a donation
to various families in need. Helping
others is a major focal point of Preston's life.
