WYHS ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
MARCH 8, 2003 MEETING MINUTES
The meeting started at approximately 12:30 p.m. at RoosterÕs on South Hamilton Road. There were six people in attendance.
We discussed having a general framework ready for the All Class Reunion for 2004. It is anticipated that we will have an event on Friday evening centered around the Homecoming football game, Saturday the schools will be open for tours, reminiscing, and wandering around. There will most likely be times and places for each particular class to gather on Saturday during the day at the high school. Mrs. Meloy, the superintendent, mentioned at one time have school bus tours of the different schools in the district so people could see how they have changed over the years.
Rob mentioned at a later time that we should try to get ÔthenÕ and ÔnowÕ photographs of all the different places people have gone and Ôhung outÕ over the years. He said the tricky part will be getting the ÔthenÕ pictures. I think possibly Leo and the Historical Society may be able to help us out there.
We discussed the possibility of having the Ômain eventÕ for individual classes, such as any individual reunions that might be going on at the same time, on either Saturday during the day or in the evening. We decided that it would be up to the class organizers to decide when and where to have their Ômain event.Õ We will have a ÔmixerÕ of some kind, probably cocktails, etc. on Saturday evening but details are still sketchy.
We decided to do a ÔfarewellÕ event on Sunday, but the details on this are also sketchy. We have not made any definite plans yet because weÕve been trying to get the Association up and running so there will be a body to take liability away from individuals.
It was suggested that things be broken down into decades, however, Leo brought up a good point by mentioning that someone at the end of a decade or at the beginning of a decade would not be with those they went to school with, which is the whole purpose of this thing to begin with.
Leo also explained the foundation committee, which will be formed by a total of five (5) people, two (2) of whom will be appointed by the superintendent of schools and three (3) of whom will be chosen from the general membership by the officers of the Association. The Foundation Committee will decide how to distribute the money in the endowment fund to the students currently in the Whitehall City School District.
The Endowment Committee will be the ÔwatchdogÕ of the Foundation Committee. The Endowment Committee will decide how much money the Foundation will have to distribute.
Finally, the next meeting was scheduled for April 19, 2003 at 12:30 p.m. at RoosterÕs, 376 South Hamilton Road, Whitehall OH 43213. The telephone number for RoosterÕs is (614) 759-7778.
