October 16th, 2002 Minutes
Hello, everybody. I'm sorry I'm rather late getting these minutes posted. Lots of things going on and keeping me busy.
Anyway, we held our last WYHS Alumni Association meeting on Saturday, October 12, 2002. (I think). We had a grand total of THREE people in attendance.
Clark Fuller has gotten us a firm date for Homecoming 2004. At this point, Whitehall is scheduled to play New Albany for Homecoming 2004. Mark your calendars for the weekend of September 24, 2004 for the All Class Reunion.
Rob mentioned putting the minutes on the wyhsRams.com website. I will try to remember that for the next meeting.
We need to make a better effort to stay in touch with the school board and with Mr. Hunter, the new principal at the high school, and let them know of our plans and our progress.
Rob talked with Mr. Hunter at Homecoming this year, and Mr. Hunter told Rob that he would like to see a mentoring program set up for the high schoolers. Mr. Hunter said that at this time, seniors are permitted to leave school after 7th period if they do not have any classes. Mr. Hunter thinks it would be better if they were able to 'shadow' someone for the last few hours of their day. This is something that Clark has been a big fan of since the inception of this group.
We also discussed the possibility of a 'money kitty' until we get the association paperwork done and accounts set up, in case we need money for something that needs done, such as the filing fee for the Secretary of State.
Leo Knoblauch is still working on the by-laws. Once all the paper work is complete, Ken Erney, a gentleman that is a good friend of mine and my boss's brother, who sets up 501(c)3 corporations as a living, has graciously agreed to double-check our paperwork and make sure it is in the right order and all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed. I don't know yet what the fee will be, but he said it would be nominal, as it shouldn't take him more than an hour to check it.
The next meeting is scheduled for Saturday November 16, 2002 a 12:30 p.m. at Whitehall Community (Rockwell)Park in the conference room. As always, if I have missed anything, please feel free to add it or let me know.
